Shangri-La Tanjung Aru, Kota Kinabalu is an iconic five-star beachfront resort in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. Nestled along Tanjung Aru Beach in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, it sits within 25 acres of lush tropical gardens and is renowned as one of the world’s premier sunset resorts. The resort features 498 guest rooms and suites, inspired by the native natural beauty of Borneo. It is divided into two wings: the Tanjung Wing and the Kinabalu Wing. The Tanjung Wing offers premium accommodations focusing on sea-view rooms, and selected rooms grant access to the Horizon Club lounge privileges. The Kinabalu Wing caters primarily to family travellers; most rooms come with private balconies with views of the South China Sea or distant Mount Kinabalu.
The resort’s famous landmark is the Sunset Bar, which boasts world-class ocean sunset views and is an iconic must-visit spot in Kota Kinabalu. - Adult Rate Policy: Guests aged 12 and above will be charged as adults.
**Children's Breakfast Charges**
- Up to 2 children under 6 enjoy complimentary breakfast accompanied by a paying adult. A 50% discount applies for extra children or children aged 7–11. Reference price for adult breakfast: approximately MYR112 per person (price subject to change, please confirm at resort front desk).
- Baby Cot: Complimentary baby cots available, subject to room availability. Please contact the resort in advance to reserve.
- Extra Bed: Extra bed available by reservation. RM106 per person per night for children aged 7–11, RM212 per person per night for guests aged 12+, payable on-site.
- Room Occupancy Limit: The maximum occupancy per room follows the stated limit of each room type. Please contact the resort for additional guest arrangements.
Smoking Policy
Smoking Policy: Smoking is prohibited in all guest rooms and indoor areas of the resort. Smoking is only permitted in designated outdoor zones.
Pet Policy
Pets and service animals are not permitted to stay at the resort.
Tourism Tax & Local Levies
Tourism Tax for Foreign Guests: RM10 per room per night, effective from 1 January 2023, payable upon check-in. Guests holding valid Malaysian MyKad or MY PR Permanent Resident Card are exempted.
Parking Policy
- Self-Parking: Private resort car park, complimentary for in-house guests, no prior booking needed.
- Parking Bays: On-site parking available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Cancellation & Prepayment Policy
- Cancellation and prepayment terms vary by room type and rate plan. Please review the terms of your selected rate at the time of booking.
- A prepayment of 30% will be required upon booking for reservations of 3 rooms or more, or bookings longer than 3 nights.
Group Bookings
Separate group terms apply for reservations of more than 10 rooms booked in one single booking. A security deposit of 50% of total invoice amount is required, and terms differ from individual bookings.

- Café TATU: International buffet restaurant, all-day dining;
- Sunset Bar: Beachfront open-air bar for sunset viewing, serving beverages and light bites;
- Shang Palace: Cantonese fine dining restaurant.
- Outside Alcohol: Corkage fees apply for consumption of personal alcoholic beverages inside restaurants and public areas.

- WiFi: Complimentary high-speed WiFi throughout the resort.
- Luggage Storage: Luggage storage available before check-in and after check-out.
