At the heart of the property lie two restored colonial-style villas dating back to the 1880s; from these, the hotel extends into gardens and courtyards, all framed by captivating sea views. The architectural firm Foster + Partners drew inspiration from the Malay term "Tanah Merah" (meaning "red earth") to design this Singaporean resort, ensuring it exists in harmonious balance with both the historic structures and the stunning natural landscape that surrounds it.

We will definitely be back
The location could not have been better, close to everything yet quiet at night. The air conditioning worked perfectly and quietly. We felt safe and well looked after at all times.
